Turmeric Latte

Replacing my daily coffee with a turmeric latte as been on my to do list for as long as I can remember.  It just never seemed to happen as I couldn’t think how a cup of turmeric, pepper and coconut milk was even going to come close to my beloved cup of caffeine.  Then I was given one by a friend, and I hate to use the word life changing, but seriously I can’t get enough of them!  You can barely taste the coconut, it just tastes warm and creamy and delicious and healthy in a good way.

It probably seems a bit crazy to add pepper to your morning coffee replacement, but combined with the fats in the coconut milk, it helps our body absorb the anti-inflammatory compound Curcumin found in Turmeric.

Description

Ingredients

Scale
  • 380g / 400ml tin coconut milk
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • pinch black pepper
  • pinch ginger powder

Instructions

THERMOMIX METHOD

Place all ingredients into mixing bowl and combine 6 sec / speed 6.  Then heat 4 min / 80°C / speed 5.  Finally to create a frothy finish blend 30 sec / speed 8.

NON THERMOMIX METHOD

Place coconut milk, water and turmeric into a saucepan over medium heat and stir until mixture is hot.  Place into a blender with remaining ingredients and blend until well combined and frothy.

Notes

Your coconut milk may weigh slightly more or less than 380g, this will depend on the amount of fat in the milk.  You don’t need to be specific with this recipe, you can replace some of the milk with water for a thinner consistency.  Just make according to your taste.
