Banana Smoothie with Yoghurt, Honey + Bee Pollen, the perfect Winter smoothie to boost your immune system!
Banana Smoothie with Yoghurt, Honey + Bee Pollen
Don’t we all spend most of Winter trying to avoid getting sick or trying to get rid of a lingering cough or kid’s runny nose! We are about to fly out to Singapore and have been avoiding germs at all costs, knowing my luck I will get sick as soon as I stop and relax on holidays….. This smoothies was designed as an added fight against all those germs with the added superfood bee pollen.
Australian Bee pollen is a pollen ball packed by worker honey bees into an edible little pellet and is collected from Australian hives. It has a sweet honeycomb flavour and is perfect added to smoothies to help boost your immune system and energy levels, improves skin and is a source of antioxidants. Start with very small amounts as this is a condensed form of pollen made by bees, so could cause serious allergies. I started the kids with just one tiny ball at a time and don’t go above 1 teaspoon in a day. You can get bee pollen online here at South West Provisions.
This smoothie made with raw honey, bananas and bee pollen is the perfect recipe to fight off cold and flu viruses, boost your kid’s energy in the morning and keep them feeling full for longer and it’s so easy to make!
Excuse Georgia’s grotty finger nails in these photos, you can tell we are on school holidays here! They had just been out digging in the gravel before posing for my photos….

For dairy free use your favourite choice of milk and coconut yoghurt.
It is worth finding your local source for raw honey, I get mine from my Mum’s friend up in the Armadale hills with backyard hives, head to your local markets and ask there. Don’t buy supermarket processed honey.
