about

My recipes are fun, easy and mostly healthy, for families with babies, toddlers and young kids.  Us Mums have limited time between feeding, playing, sleeping, driving, cleaning etc etc and so my recipes are quick and simple to make, using ingredients that are easily accessible.  They are time conscious recipes that can be made around your kids schedule.  I also hope they are fun and will interest even fussy eaters (like my eldest Samurai) and I aim to sneak in any extra vegies where I can.

My interest in sharing recipes really began after Samurai was born and at 3 months started suffering from severe eczema.  His little cheeks used to bleed and some nights would wake with his cot sheets covered in blood from where he had rubbed his cheeks trying to relieve the itch.  For any first time Mum, seeing their tiny baby suffering, it consumes you, my every moment was spent looking for a cure.  We changed our way of thinking about everything; laundry liquid, soap, 100% cotton clothes, perfumes on other adults, creams, heat (making sure he wasn’t over dressed) and diet (at this stage, my diet as I was breastfeeding).  My diet then became my main focus and I noticed flare ups after I ate certain foods and sadly, it came to be most foods, even surprising ones like rice.  So controlling my diet managed to reduce his eczema but didn’t cure it.

Then after Samurai started on solids, he was eating an incredibly limited diet, which I believe developed him into a very fussy eater at 2 years, even though now his eczema has cleared, he struggles to eat a varietal diet and he is very hesitant of new foods.

Luckily for us, at the age of 15 months Samurai almost instantly grew out of his eczema, and now will only have very minor flare ups if he eats a couple of foods.  We are now  able to give him pretty much everything, including dairy, as long as we don’t overload his system.  His sister Georgia, thankfully, didn’t suffer from eczema in the same way, and she too will just have minor flare ups very occasionally.

If you haven’t already worked out, I am a Mum of two beautiful kids, Samurai age 3 and Georgia age 2, so yes I do have my hands full, but wouldn’t have it any other way!
